• Retool is at the beginning stages of developing its visual identity, with room for growth and expansion in various aspects of the business. As a brand designer, you will play a crucial role in exploring and shaping future aesthetics. You will advocate for brand systems while also seeking opportunities to innovate and venture into new territories, experimenting with conceptual approaches for a brand that stands out in a crowded market of generic SaaS businesses. We are looking for someone who is not afraid to take risks and aims to capture the hearts and minds of software developers.

• In this position, you will collaborate with the marketing team to create visual assets for email marketing, events, landing pages, social media, paid digital advertising, slide decks, reports, whitepapers, one-pagers, and field marketing.

• Translate established brand systems into production-ready assets for strategic marketing campaigns.

• Assist in developing and maintaining a flexible brand system for Retool that can scale effectively.

• Work with the brand team to ensure that Retool's visual identity is consistently expressed across all touchpoints.

• Be a brand ambassador and advocate for globally-applicable design solutions.

• Present your design work to cross-functional teams, understanding their requirements and translating them into effective design solutions.

• Design iteratively, experimenting with different approaches based on user feedback.

• Maintain brand consistency across all marketing channels while also exploring new opportunities to enhance our visual system capabilities.

• Actively participate in design discussions at Retool, providing constructive feedback to design and product teams during critiques and reviews.


⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in visual design, either in-house or at an agency.

• Proficiency in the formal elements of graphic design, including typography, color theory, layout, and composition, with basic skills in Figma.

• Strong passion for branding, demonstrated through a diverse portfolio showcasing work in various contexts with a focus on brand systems.

• Experience collaborating with motion designers to create animated visualizations as part of a brand system—individual motion design experience is a plus.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.

• Curiosity to stay updated on the latest design technologies and techniques, balanced with a desire to establish a unique, opinionated style rather than following trends.

• Ability to work closely with design, marketing, and business teams to translate project requirements, audience insights, and constraints into well-informed design decisions.

• Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks independently based on project goals, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment.

• Proactively seek feedback, and identify challenges and opportunities within your tasks.
