• Responsible for overseeing animation quality, direction, and workflows on various high-end game projects.
• Lead and manage a team of animators to produce fluid, expressive, and technically sound character, creature, and gameplay animations.
• Drive co-development projects and establish scalable animation pipelines, documentation, and quality standards.
• Collaborate with Design, Tech Art, Rigging, and Engineering teams to seamlessly integrate animation into gameplay and narrative systems.
• Review both internal and outsourced animation work, providing constructive feedback to maintain AAA quality standards.
• Troubleshoot animation, rigging, and implementation issues, working closely with Tech Art to improve pipeline efficiency.
• Mentor and guide animators to support their growth and onboarding process.
• Work with production to accurately scope animation deliverables, identify dependencies, and mitigate risks.
• Maintain project documentation, style guides, and communication with client-side animation leads or directors.
• Attend internal and external meetings as required to support project and business objectives.
• Must have 5+ years of professional animation experience in game development, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior role.
• Demonstrated track record of delivering AAA-quality gameplay and cinematic animation.
• Advanced proficiency in Maya or MotionBuilder, with a solid understanding of animation principles, body mechanics, timing, and weight.
• Hands-on experience with Unreal Engine (4/5) and/or Unity, including animation blueprints, state machines, and real-time implementation.
• Familiarity with keyframe and mocap cleanup and retargeting workflows.
• Strong collaboration skills when working with Tech Art, Rigging, and Design teams.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities in English, with experience in mentoring and directing distributed teams.
• Previous involvement in outsourcing or co-development projects is advantageous.
• Initial contract role with potential to transition to full-time with benefits.
