• Leading a team of Product Designers to create innovative end-to-end experiences for CarMax.
• Translating business strategies into digital-first experiences that are measurable and scalable based on customer insights and brand knowledge.
• Establishing a vision for future experiences in collaboration with Product, Strategy, and Engineering teams to drive growth and ensure experience cohesion and quality.
• Developing a team of talented Product Designers to deliver on standards, foster collaboration, and effective communication.
• Communicating a clear experience vision to stakeholders that simplifies complexity and leads with a human-centered approach.
• Informing and advocating for the vision and standards for CarMax experience design and practices.
• Establishing priorities and objectives for a Product Program in partnership with Product and Engineering leadership to realize the Product Vision.
• Championing consumer needs, opportunities, and pain points to inform an iterative design and discovery process.
• Managing the creation of visual artifacts to articulate, inform, and validate ideas within our design system practices.
• Staying updated on tools, principles, and practices in experience design and development to advocate for continuous improvement.
• Leading productive meetings and brainstorming sessions while creating clear role expectations to advance UX practices.
• Developing associates to achieve their full potential through guidance, feedback, and training.
• Managing resources for product roadmap alignment with business needs and associate growth goals.
• Minimum 8 years' experience in user experience and UX design/development.
• At least 2 years of experience in leading user experience teams.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Portfolio demonstrating experience design, creativity, and knowledge of best practices for UX Design, Visual Design, and Front End Development.
• Strong passion for technology and design with a commitment to staying updated on industry trends.
• Excellent communication skills to convey complex concepts to stakeholders at all levels.
• Collaborative work approach with the ability to balance customer needs and business goals.
• Experience in facilitating brainstorming sessions, product discovery, and user research.
• Proficiency in UX Design principles and deliverables, including rapid prototyping and user personas.
• Ability to provide objective feedback on interface design and strong critical thinking skills.
• Experience in mentoring others in UX design methodologies and best practices.
• Experience in designing solutions for web, mobile, and tablet applications with Agile development processes.
• Knowledge of responsive/adaptive design and e-commerce is a plus.
