• Job Title: Creative Design Manager

• Job Overview: Seeking a talented and innovative Creative Design Manager to spearhead the development of captivating hand-knit and crochet designs that are both accessible and of high quality. This role involves creating seasonal collections that showcase our yarns, support our maker community, and embody our brand values. From initial concept to final product, you will champion craftsmanship, innovation, and inclusivity in both knitting and crochet designs.
• Key Responsibilities: Leading the creation of unique knit and crochet patterns that accentuate the characteristics of our yarns (fibers, textures, colors) and inspire makers of all skill levels.
• Develop and present design concepts, color palettes, mood boards, and sample sketches.
• Oversee technical aspects such as stitch selection, garment construction, and sizing.
• Develop and manage a seasonal pattern calendar aligned with yarn launches, kits, and promotional campaigns.
• Research and analyze market trends, consumer needs, and emerging technologies to guide design direction.
• Collaborate with yarn development, marketing, and merchandising teams to synchronize product releases, campaign narratives, and pattern support with business goals.
• Curate and oversee a network of freelance knit and crochet designers, tech editors, and sample makers.
• Ensure all patterns are clear, technically precise, size-inclusive, and visually appealing for makers of all levels.
• Foster relationships with makers, testers, and content creators through community initiatives like KALs, CALs, trunk shows, and tutorials.
• Occasional travel to yarn stores, trade events, and production sites.
• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Knitwear Design, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in knit and crochet design, with 2–3 years in a managerial role.
• Strong portfolio showcasing original knitwear designs across various gauges and techniques.
• Proficiency in yarns, knit structures, and garment construction.
• Expertise in knitting and crochet, including pattern grading, charting, and editing.
• Proficient in creating mood boards, color stories, and project briefs.
• Deep understanding of yarn construction, weights, fiber types, and applications for knit and crochet.
• Strong project management skills and experience leading teams or freelancers.
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and pattern formatting/charting tools.
• Excellent communication skills and collaborative design leadership approach.
• Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines with attention to detail.
