• As a Principal Product Designer for Home Lending, you will be instrumental in shaping the end-to-end user experience for Upstart's HELOC product, revolutionizing the application process entirely.
• You will be responsible for devising the design strategy across acquisition, onboarding, qualification, pricing, and offer presentation, ensuring a seamless, sophisticated, and trustworthy user experience.
• Your role will involve leading design strategy and implementation for the complete HELOC application funnel, as well as mentoring fellow designers and influencing the development of Upstart's design ethos and methodologies.
• Minimum qualifications:
• A minimum of 10 years of experience designing consumer-facing digital products, preferably within fintech or high-stakes decision-making environments.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating intuitive UX, exceptional design quality, and quantifiable business outcomes.
• Prior experience in leading design for intricate, multi-step processes (e.g., eligibility, pricing, personalization).
• Proficiency in interaction design, visual design, and systems thinking.
• Effective collaboration skills with product, engineering, legal, and data teams.
• Ability in design rationale, facilitation, and navigating ambiguity.
• Proficiency in modern design and research tools (Figma, UserTesting, etc.).
• Demonstrated capability in guiding and mentoring design talent across various teams.
