β’ The New Jersey State Office of Innovation is looking for diverse and experienced team members to deploy world-class innovative and digital services that solve pressing public interest challenges for the people of New Jersey.
β’ Our work spans numerous issue and policy areas, and is focused on making an impact in the lives of the New Jerseyans that we serve.
β’ Our team members wear many hats, contributing to both the execution of core projects and the evolution of the Office of Innovation (OOI).
β’ We use data and modern research, design, and development methods to inform our decision making, and we collaborate with stakeholders within and outside of government to understand and solve challenges.
β’ We are seeking design students currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate or design bootcamp who are interested in the intersection of design and public service.
β’ Fellows will be assigned a design mentor, be embedded in a cross-functional product development team, and actively contribute to the projects that the team works on.
π― Requirements
β’ Actively enrolled, or graduated within 3 months of May 2025, in either an undergraduate, graduate, or bootcamp design program related to product design, interactive design or design in public service.
β’ Available to work 40 hours a week within 9am-5pm EST.
β’ Experience defining user needs and experience goals using such frameworks as personas, storyboards, scenarios, and flowcharts.
β’ Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with a diverse range of individuals.
β’ Portfolio demonstrating design research or visual design; please be sure to include process and outputs.
β’ Familiarity with Figma and/or Adobe Creative Suite.
β’ Experience prototyping designs at varying levels of fidelity using wireframes, click-through prototypes, and high fidelity designs.
β’ Experience with mobile first design strongly preferred.
