• Responsible for creating user-centered interfaces for mobile AAC apps on iOS and Android platforms, ensuring accessibility and ease of use for diverse user populations, including pediatric and adult users.
• Collaborate with AAC users, caregivers, clinicians, and internal teams to understand communication needs and translate them into functional design solutions.
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups using tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
• Ensure compliance with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG, Apple Accessibility, Android Accessibility) and support alternative access methods such as head tracking, switch scanning, and eye gaze.
• Conduct usability testing with AAC users and stakeholders and iterate designs based on feedback.
• Work closely with developers to ensure accurate implementation of design features and maintain consistency across app ecosystems.
• Translate complex requirements into intuitive and visually appealing interfaces.
• Stay current with design trends, tools, and technologies, and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
• Develop a UI/UX style guide for mobile applications.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in design, HCI, Engineering, or Specialist Education.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in product design (UX/UI) required, preferably in mobile applications or assistive technology environments.
• 2 years of experience collaborating with cross-functional teams required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience with accessibility standards and inclusive design required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in digital graphic design with an emphasis on visually appealing, user-friendly UI required.
• Knowledge of multilingual design and localization workflows required.
• Familiarity with front-end development workflows required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in agile development environments required.
• Experience working with AAC users, communication partners, and AAC professionals preferred.
• Experience working with pediatric users preferred.
• Experience designing for neurodiverse populations preferred.
