• We are looking for a Product Designer who is enthusiastic about creating top-notch tools that developers enjoy using. The role involves designing experiences that assist engineering teams in managing and collaborating on APIs efficiently at scale. This position is ideal for someone who is interested in technical challenges and is dedicated to simplifying complex workflows to make them user-friendly, engaging, and efficient.
• At Speakeasy, we are developing tools that revolutionize how teams approach API development, encompassing code generation, SDK creation, API documentation, and MCP. As a Product Designer, you will be responsible for designing seamless experiences that cater to intricate technical workflows while ensuring a smooth and enjoyable user experience.
• Product Strategy & Vision: Lead the design process from gathering requirements to delivering implementation-ready solutions. Contribute to the product's strategic direction and vision through user research and market analysis. Understand how developers interact with APIs and what makes their workflows successful.
• Design Excellence: Address complex UX, UI, and interaction challenges by creating top-tier solutions. Develop high-fidelity designs, prototypes, and flows that strike a balance between power and simplicity for technical audiences. Assist in establishing and maintaining the design system.
• User Research & Discovery: Conduct user research with engineering teams to grasp their workflows and pain points. Gain insights into the problem space through customer interviews, usability testing, and data analysis. Translate technical requirements into user-centered design solutions.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering/product teams to bring designs to fruition. Engage in design critiques and engineering handoffs to ensure high-quality outcomes. Present design concepts and reasoning to stakeholders across the organization.
• 3-5 years of product design experience, with a preference for B2B or technical products. Showcase a strong portfolio illustrating your design process from research to final implementation. Experience in designing tools or platforms with complex user workflows.
• Possess a curious mindset and a desire to explore technical challenges, without the need to be a developer. Strong user research skills and a genuine interest in understanding customer needs. Proficiency in modern design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or similar.
• Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to navigate complex product challenges. Excellent communication skills for collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience working in cross-functional teams and openness to feedback for continuous design iteration.
• Additional points for experience in designing for developer audiences, knowledge of Git/GitHub for collaboration with engineering, understanding of API concepts, front-end development skills, animation and micro-interaction design capabilities, and experience with infrastructure or platform products.
