• Take the lead in designing intricate, software-style interfaces such as node editors, workflow builders, multi-format editors, and drag-and-drop canvases with a strong emphasis on usability, visual clarity, and scalability.
• Transform user requirements, business objectives, and technical limitations into user-friendly UI/UX flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and engineers to establish design requirements, enhance feature scopes, iterate on prototypes, and ensure accurate implementation of design specifications.
• Advocate for the user by conducting usability reviews, gathering feedback, and iterating on designs.
• Embrace a creative industry perspective by understanding the mindset of creators such as artists, video editors, and designers, and designing within their specific workflows.
• Develop, maintain, and advance design systems and components to support rapid iteration while upholding visual and interaction consistency.
• Work in collaboration with brand, motion/animation, and visual design teams to ensure the UI reflects a high-quality, craft-oriented aesthetic.
• Consider responsiveness, accessibility, performance constraints, and cross-platform consistency in your designs.
• Clearly communicate design rationale to stakeholders and collaborate with engineering to maintain design integrity during implementation.
• Possess 5+ years of experience in UX/UI/product design, specifically focusing on designing complex software-style tools rather than marketing websites or simple applications.
• Showcase a strong portfolio demonstrating work on high-complexity interfaces like workflow editors, developer tools, creative tools, multi-pane dashboards, and drag-and-drop UIs.
• Demonstrate the ability to design for creative industries or tools utilized by creative professionals.
• Exhibit excellent visual design sensibilities including typography, layout, color, spacing, iconography, and motion/interaction.
• Proficient in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Principle, After Effects, and in handing off designs to engineering teams.
• Familiarity with design systems and component-based UI design.
• Strong communication skills to articulate design decisions, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and adapt to feedback.
• Self-motivated, comfortable with remote work, and thrive in a startup/fast-paced environment with evolving requirements.
