• Lead the development, documentation, and implementation of Deel's design system, ensuring quality, consistency, and scalability of UI components across web and mobile platforms. Emphasize accessibility, localization, and responsiveness best practices. Promote Deel's design excellence through public exposure of the system.
• Define the vision for creating robust, reusable components that cater to various use cases by leveraging variables effectively. Design technical components like customizable Data Grids, Form builders, and navigational patterns to meet the needs of an 80+ design team. Monitor component metrics, address design debt, and ensure system scalability.
• Enhance collaboration between designers and engineers at Deel by developing tools for consistency and automated workflows. Implement systems like design token automation and utilities to streamline handoff processes and improve overall design operations.
• Serve as a mentor to designers, promoting effective design system adoption and elevating their skills. Identify opportunities for knowledge sharing, pattern-matching, and system thinking growth. Collaborate with design leadership to align system strategy with product goals.
• 5-7 years of Product Design experience with a focus on design systems at scale for at least 4 years. Strong portfolio demonstrating system-level thinking and component design expertise for complex digital products. Proficiency in accessibility standards, usability principles, and responsive design for web and mobile platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to develop scalable design systems supporting large product surfaces. Experience balancing consistency and flexibility for multiple use cases and teams. Proficiency in Figma, tokens, component libraries, and design documentation practices.
• Effective communicator with experience collaborating with engineers on component implementation, QA processes, and tooling development. Ability to facilitate cross-team design critiques, reviews, and workshops.
• Proactive problem-solver with a track record of improving design processes and enabling teams to work more efficiently. Comfortable leading projects independently and aligning cross-functional teams.
• Required: Experience with Figma Plugin API, MUI component library, front-end technologies (React, TypeScript), and design-token-driven development. Nice to have: Knowledge of motion design principles and tools.
