📋 Description

• Lead the advancement of Docker’s design system, overseeing component and pattern libraries, token architecture, Figma libraries, and transitioning from MUI to a more contemporary system.

• Revamp Docker’s visual language and introduce a fresh, forward-looking aesthetic across all products.

• Establish a token-based foundation that can be scaled across various web and desktop platforms.

• Collaborate with engineering to ensure the delivery of a top-notch and efficient design system.

• Set new standards for UI quality and consistency throughout the Docker ecosystem.

• Take charge of refreshing Docker’s product experience visually, emphasizing clarity, depth, and a modern appearance.

• Work closely with designers, providing valuable feedback and support to enhance cross-organizational design.

• Promote design consistency company-wide.

• Facilitate alignment across teams, negotiate compromises, and advocate for systems thinking.

• Establish rituals, governance models, and contribution frameworks within the design systems team, as well as promote broader design systems education within the product organization.

• Mentor designers, influence cross-functional peers, and coach teams on designing for systems.

• Cultivate strong partnerships with engineering, product, research, and leadership.

• Co-lead the strategic initiative to transition Docker from MUI to a more scalable, token-driven system.

• Enhance engineering efficiency, reduce UI rework, and boost satisfaction for both engineering and design teams.


⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of product design experience, with extensive involvement in design systems at a large scale.

• Demonstrated experience in shipping or revamping multiple design systems, particularly involving migrations.

• Strong skills in interaction and visual design; meticulous attention to details that others may overlook.

• Proficiency with tokens, pipelines, and modern design system tools (Figma, Storybook, Chromatic).

• Basic knowledge of front-end development.

• Preferred experience in SaaS or development tools, although not mandatory.
