• Take charge of leading a newly-formed, cross-functional team dedicated to evolving, implementing, and scaling our design system, Norma. Responsibilities include developing tools, components, documentation, materials, and processes to empower designers and engineers in creating top-tier experiences. Collaborate with product designers, engineers, product managers, and stakeholders globally to drive adoption of our design system.
• Lead the design efforts for Remote's design system, Norma.
• Collaborate with adjacent product teams that intersect with the design system's scope.
• Work closely with engineering to create scalable, polished components and maintain consistency between design and coded elements.
• Oversee the maintenance, governance, and evolution of our design system by integrating yourself across the organization, participating in team reviews, and engaging in discussions.
• Develop materials and spearhead internal initiatives to educate the organization, promote adoption, and enhance alignment with the design system.
• Establish strategies and processes to identify enhancement opportunities, governance practices, and effective scaling of our design system in collaboration with engineering counterparts.
• Enhance existing design system components while collaborating with the broader design team to refine our visual design language.
• Motivate yourself and your colleagues to deliver top-quality work that is pixel-perfect, embracing and fostering new methodologies and approaches.
• Provide daily support through asynchronous troubleshooting and collaboration, championing experience principles by ensuring usability, scalability, and accessibility in all facets of our design system.
• Experienced individual contributor designer with a track record of designing, implementing, and evolving a maturing design system, including the necessary tools, documentation, and strategies for effective scaling.
• Impressive portfolio showcasing product design and design systems work, demonstrating scalability thinking and a solid grasp of key visual and interaction design principles.
• Advocate for consistency and systematic building, while recognizing when flexibility or evolution is needed in a design system.
• Exceptional communication skills to craft compelling narratives around design work, offer guidance, collaborate effectively with peers and stakeholders, and proficiently communicate in written and spoken English.
• Comfortable in a high-growth, fast-paced environment, with a history of independently owning design for complex domains and multiple projects with intersecting organizational boundaries.
• Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with product and engineering teams to build consensus, resolve debates, and drive impactful outcomes.
• Respected voice in an organization focused on enhancing design systems, product experiences, quality, culture, and work practices.
• Preference for candidates with experience in designing complex B2B SaaS solutions for industries like HRTech, FinTech, etc.
