Design Manager

📋 Description

• Manage and coordinate global engineering teams remotely at GE Vernova Global Engineering Centre

• Ensure timely delivery of high-quality engineering outputs

• Lead the development of primary plant designs for HV/EHV substations (AIS, GIS, and HVDC as needed) following standards

• Create and review a comprehensive 3D model, general arrangement drawings, section drawings, and layout designs

• Review and approve vendor drawings and specifications to ensure project requirements alignment

• Ensure compliance with relevant national regulations like UK Health & Safety regulations (CDM 2015)

• Implement best practices in design for safety and quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle

• Collaborate with various functions for a fully integrated substation design

• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers

• Engage with clients, stakeholders, and suppliers to address technical queries

• Maintain quality assurance and design governance throughout the project lifecycle

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Power/Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)

• 7–10 years of experience in HV substation design preferred

• Strong knowledge of UK Transmission and Distribution standards

• Proficiency in CAD and familiarity with BIM/3D tools (Revit, Navisworks) advantageous

• Demonstrated experience in substation design across tender and execution phases

• Familiarity with CDM regulations and safe-by-design principles

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage clients and stakeholders
