Lead Mechanical Design Engineer – Rotor/Airfoil

📋 Description

• Participate in the advancement of aircraft component design, specifically focusing on LPT rotor disk and/or Flowpath/airfoils for the RISE Open Fan technology demonstrator engine program

• Develop mechanical designs for designated hardware that meet program and internal design requirements for Open Fan low-pressure turbine technology development and engine demonstration initiatives

• Engage with diverse global teams across various disciplines such as thermal design, aero design, and systems design

• Effectively communicate design risks to stakeholders to facilitate informed decision-making

• Propose innovative solutions to achieve broad design objectives for designated hardware and the overall module

• Lead and conduct design reviews, release drawings, ensure quality standards, and perform assembly analyses

• Identify areas for technological advancement and recommend strategies or programs to accomplish them

• Option to work fully remotely or follow a hybrid schedule (office and home)


⛳️ Requirements

• Hold an engineering degree with relevant industrial experience in mechanical design

• Demonstrated success in delivering complex programs and ability to collaborate in cross-functional global teams within diverse cultural settings

• Proven ability to drive technology forward and devise innovative solutions

• Proficiency in English language

• Significant experience in the gas turbine or aviation industry, particularly in mechanical design of components like rotors, airfoils, and structures

• Experience in bolted joint analysis and either disk design or flowpath/airfoils design

• Proficient in Finite Element Analysis, preferably using Ansys

• Proficiency in 2D/3D modeling of mechanical components, preferably using NX/Teamcenter

• Familiarity with life assessments (LCF, HCF, crack propagation, creep)

• Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes and tools

• Experience in tolerance stack-ups, drawing releases, and creation of Bills of Material (BoMs)
