MEP Design Manager

📋 Description

• Serve as the trusted MEP engineering expert for the owner, ensuring that all designs align with program requirements, operational objectives, and long-term dependability

• Review and authorize consultant design packages at various stages of development

• Conduct thorough assessments of proposed solutions, pinpointing any gaps, risks, inconsistencies, or opportunities for value enhancement that safeguard the owner's interests

• Lead technical discussions with designers, contractors, and equipment suppliers

• Assess the resilience, efficiency, scalability, and maintainability of mechanical and electrical system architectures

• Supervise critical mechanical systems such as data center cooling, hydronics, heat rejection, airflow, and pressurization

• Provide oversight on the development of electrical power systems, including medium-voltage and low-voltage distribution, UPS systems, generators, and more

• Drive the design review process to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and the owner's design principles

• Coordinate interdisciplinary design integration and ensure construction-ready MEP deliverables

• Maintain design documentation and provide design-intent interpretation during construction

• Support commissioning planning and validate system performance and reliability

• Collaborate with various teams to ensure MEP solutions meet functional and business objectives

• Effectively communicate engineering decisions and recommendations to leadership

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of MEP design experience, with a focus on hyperscale data centers or mission-critical environments

• At least 5 years of experience as an owner's representative, design manager, or consulting lead in mechanical, electrical, or combined MEP fields

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related MEP discipline

• Proficiency in mechanical and electrical codes and standards such as ASHRAE, NFPA, and more

• Demonstrated ability to oversee external design firms and ensure performance accountability

• Professional Engineer (PE) license
