Systems Design Lead – RPG

📋 Description

• Responsible for designing and managing core progression systems such as characters, skills, gear, and upgrades to ensure depth, clarity, and long-term player engagement.

• Develop engaging combat systems and gameplay loops that offer a strategic and gratifying experience for players.

• Create and balance game economies, reward structures, and resource flows to facilitate healthy progression and player retention.

• Analyze system performance with Product and Analytics teams, making iterative improvements based on KPIs, data insights, and player input.

• Write and update clear design documentation, feature specifications, and implementation guidelines to facilitate smooth execution of ideas.

• Collaborate with Engineering and UX teams to prototype, validate, and enhance gameplay features.

• Assist in live operations by implementing scalable systems and content-driven retention strategies.

• Mentor junior designers and contribute to the development of design best practices and team growth.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must have 4–6 years of experience in Game Design, focusing on systems design.

• Experience in shipping or working on midcore or RPG titles, preferably in a free-to-play environment.

• Expertise in progression, combat systems, or economy balancing, with a thorough understanding of their interactions.

• Familiarity with F2P design principles, player retention loops, and live game systems.

• Strong analytical skills, utilizing game KPIs to inform design decisions.

• Ability to oversee system-level features from start to finish, collaborating across functions to drive results.

• Excellent documentation, problem-solving, and communication abilities.

• Passion for RPGs and creating impactful, enduring player experiences.
