• Develop and animate motion systems across various surfaces, including interaction motion, component behaviors, transitions, and engaging experiences.
• Produce expressive 2D animations, occasionally incorporating 3D/hybrid elements, for product storytelling, launches, and educational purposes.
• Collaborate closely with Product Designers and Engineers to prototype, refine, and deliver motion that aligns with design vision and performs effectively in production.
• Work in partnership with various teams (creative direction, brand, illustration, content design, research, marketing/communications) to ensure motion enhances product objectives and storytelling.
• Translate vague requests into well-defined motion concepts, explore multiple options rapidly, and iterate based on feedback.
• Contribute to motion guidelines, documentation, and reusable assets to facilitate scalability and consistency across teams.
• Present work with a strong rationale, connecting motion decisions to user outcomes such as comprehension, confidence, and reduced friction.
• Minimum 7 years of professional experience in motion design/animation for digital products, brands, or agencies (or equivalent portfolio showcasing similar scope and quality).
• Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in timing, easing, composition, and narrative clarity, particularly in UI/product motion and motion systems.
• Proficiency in After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, and ability to work with Figma files and design systems.
• Hands-on experience in delivering animations with Lottie (Bodymovin) and collaborating with engineers to integrate and optimize motion in production.
• Ability to work with engineers to implement motion in production, including providing specifications, addressing constraints, and quality assurance.
• Capability to manage multiple projects, adapt to changing priorities, and incorporate stakeholder feedback in a fast-paced setting.
• Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with distributed, cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency in prototyping tools (Figma prototyping, Origami, Principle, ProtoPie, etc.) and familiarity with 3D workflows (Cinema 4D, Blender, or similar).
• Experience in developing or contributing to motion design systems, including guidelines, libraries, and reusable patterns.
