Staff Product Designer, Design Systems

📋 Description

• Take charge of advancing, documenting, and implementing Deel's design system for both web and mobile platforms

• Enhance and maintain the quality, coherence, accessibility, localization, and scalability of UI components and design patterns

• Publicly exhibit Deel's design system to showcase design excellence

• Establish a technical strategy and architecture for durable, reusable components such as customizable Data Grids, Form builders, and navigation patterns

• Monitor component metrics, detect issues, and systematically address design challenges

• Foster better collaboration between engineers and designers and develop tools (linting, automated workflows, design token automation) to streamline the design handoff process

• Guide designers, promote system thinking, and align system strategy with overall product objectives

⛳️ Requirements

• 5-7 years of Product Design experience with a minimum of 4 years dedicated to designing systems on a large scale

• Impressive portfolio demonstrating system-level thinking and component design for intricate digital products

• Profound knowledge of accessibility standards, usability principles, and responsive design for web and mobile platforms

• Proven track record in developing and evolving scalable design systems that cater to extensive product surfaces

• Expertise in Figma, tokens, component libraries, and design documentation practices

• Experience collaborating closely with engineers on component implementation, QA processes, and internal tooling development

• Strong communication skills to facilitate design critiques, reviews, and workshops across teams

• Proactive leader with a history of enhancing design processes and empowering larger teams

• Required: Experience with Figma Plugin API and developing internal tools to support design workflows

• Required: Familiarity with MUI (Material UI) component library and underlying framework architecture

• Required: Front-end experience (React, TypeScript) and understanding of design-token-driven development

• Preferred: Knowledge of motion design principles and proficiency with motion tools (React Spring, GSAP)
