Staff Product Designer – Observability

📋 Description

• Take the lead in designing Temporal's observability, analytics, and insights experience for both open-source and Temporal Cloud platforms, ensuring users can effectively monitor, understand, and optimize their Temporal Workflows.

• Create visually appealing and intuitive user interfaces that provide actionable insights from complex system metrics, Temporal Workflow execution data, and performance insights for users of varying technical backgrounds.

• Collaborate with Product Managers and Engineers to define, validate, and refine project scope and delivery.

• Conduct user research to grasp the observability needs, pain points, and mental models of developers, platform engineers, and operations teams when monitoring and debugging distributed systems.

• Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to develop mockups, prototypes, and data visualizations for user and stakeholder feedback.

• Establish design patterns and components for displaying time-series data, Temporal Workflow traces, execution histories, and system health metrics that are scalable and accessible, adhering to WCAG Level AA 2.1 standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Self-starter with a passion for simplifying complex technical systems for better usability.

• Experience in designing data-heavy products like dashboards, analytics tools, and monitoring systems.

• Strong commitment to creating high-quality, accessible products that meet WCAG Level AA 2.1 standards.

• Comfortable with remote work and occasional travel for team meetings.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver quality results in a timely manner.

• 6+ years of experience in digital product design, with a focus on data visualization and analytics features.

• Proficiency in Figma, data visualization libraries, and design systems.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to translate technical requirements into user-centered designs.

• Familiarity with coding languages and developer tools like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, GitHub, and Terminal.
