UX Designer - Design systems

📋 Description

• Spearheading the development and advancement of Canonical’s design system to ensure widespread adoption, consistency, scalability, and accessibility throughout our product line

• Collaborating closely with designers, engineers, and stakeholders to transform user requirements and brand values into reusable components, patterns, and guidelines

• Advocating for design system best practices, fostering a unified user experience and design, and offering comprehensive documentation and assistance to interdisciplinary teams

• Crafting and detailing UI components, design tokens, and interaction patterns

• Ensuring prompt and efficient execution of the design system roadmap

• Facilitating alignment on the utilization and governance of the design system across various teams

• Promoting accessibility, performance, and scalability in design system choices and adapting based on data and technological progress

• Remaining abreast of industry trends to ensure innovation while maintaining system coherence and efficiency

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive background in UX/product design, with a notable emphasis on design systems within intricate settings

• Portfolio showcasing profound expertise in design systems, encompassing component libraries, documentation, and management of complex environments

• Outstanding academic accomplishments in design or a related behavioral science discipline

• Proficiency in Figma, Storybook, and design token workflows

• Experience in collaborating with engineers and bridging the gap between design and code

• Demonstrated ability to apply design methodologies, articulate and document design choices clearly

• Exceptional attention to detail and systemic approach to resolving intricate design challenges

• Dedication to transparent project delivery and adherence to team deadlines

• Enthusiasm for maintaining a balance between consistency and innovation

• Willingness to travel up to four times annually for internal events
