• Take the lead in modernizing a large-scale mainframe UI from start to finish.
• Develop the design vision, principles, and roadmap for the modernization project.
• Analyze, deconstruct, and reimagine 750 legacy screens to create cohesive user journeys.
• Conduct stakeholder interviews, workshops, and usability validations to guide design decisions.
• Create wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity designs, and necessary documentation.
• Establish or enhance a scalable design system for efficient and consistent delivery.
• Collaborate with engineers to ensure design feasibility and alignment with modernization requirements.
• Define Agile-friendly design stories, estimates, sequencing, and acceptance criteria.
• Engage in PI Planning, Sprint Planning, Refinements, and Reviews as the design expert for the program.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and feedback to the team throughout the modernization process.
• Identify risks early on and suggest strategies to maintain project timelines.
• Must have 7+ years of UI/UX design experience, with leadership responsibilities.
• Demonstrated track record of successfully modernizing legacy or mainframe applications, especially on a large scale (300+ screens).
• Solid understanding of design considerations for systems interacting with COBOL or other mainframe workflows.
• Experience in creating and managing enterprise-level design systems.
• Ability to break down complex design tasks into Agile-friendly increments and collaborate effectively with engineering teams.
• Strong portfolio showcasing workflow redesign, information hierarchy, and updating outdated interfaces.
• Excellent communication skills to convey concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proven expertise in facilitating workshops, gathering requirements, and leading discussions to build consensus.
