• Lead and guide the Team: Directly oversee, mentor, and coach a team of product designers at different levels. Support their growth, help them navigate obstacles, and assist them in reaching their career aspirations. Cultivate an environment of feedback, continuous learning, and psychological safety.
• Establish Design Vision & Strategy: Collaborate with product leadership to establish the long-term vision and strategy for the product design function. Align design initiatives with overall business goals and product roadmaps.
• Enhance Design Craft & Quality: Set and uphold high standards for design quality, usability, and consistency across all products and platforms. Supervise the design process from concept to implementation, ensuring thoughtful solutions that meet user requirements and business objectives.
• Promote User-Centered Practices: Advocate for user research and testing throughout the product development process. Ensure the team has a deep understanding of our users, their needs, and challenges, and that this knowledge influences design choices.
• Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration: Develop strong, collaborative partnerships with teams in Product Management, Engineering, User Research, Marketing, Data Science, and other departments. Be a vocal supporter of design and user experience within the organization.
• Manage Resource Planning & Allocation: Strategically plan and allocate design resources across various projects and endeavors. Forecast hiring requirements and actively engage in recruitment to build a diverse and high-performing team.
• Define & Enhance Processes: Continuously assess and enhance design processes, tools, and workflows to boost efficiency, collaboration, and the overall impact of the design team.
• Advocate for Design Systems: Supervise the development and evolution of our design system to ensure consistency, efficiency, and scalability across our products.
• Contribute to Product Strategy: Actively engage in high-level product strategy discussions, bringing a robust design perspective and endorsing innovative solutions that address real user needs.
• Minimum of 12 years of experience in product design, with a substantial portion in a leadership or management capacity, overseeing teams of product designers.
• Demonstrated track record of defining and implementing design strategy for successful products.
• In-depth knowledge of user-centered design principles, methodologies, and best practices (UX, UI, Interaction Design, User Research).
• Experience in building, mentoring, and leading high-performing design teams.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating leadership experience, strategic thinking, and the ability to deliver impactful design solutions through a team. Examples of your team's work and how you guided them are highly valuable.
• Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to clearly articulate design decisions and strategy to both design and non-design audiences.
• Experience collaborating closely with Product Management and Engineering leadership throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and effectively manage multiple priorities.
