• Collaborate closely with product managers, business analysts, developers, and stakeholders to identify user requirements and transform them into wireframes, prototypes, and high-quality designs.
• Conduct user research activities such as interviews, surveys, and usability tests, analyze the results, and provide actionable design suggestions.
• Develop and manage a consistent, scalable design system (UI components, pattern library) that adheres to SMX brand standards and federal regulations.
• Ensure all designs comply with Section 508 and WCAG accessibility standards; work closely with QA to confirm adherence.
• Evolve designs quickly based on user feedback, analytics data, and stakeholder input, balancing innovation with usability and technical feasibility.
• Lead design workshops and presentations, effectively conveying reasoning and advocating for user-centric outcomes.
• Actively participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog grooming, demos) to maintain seamless integration of design work with development cycles.
• Possess an Active Secret security clearance or be capable of obtaining U.S. Government security clearance (requires U.S. citizenship).
• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in HCI, Graphic Design, Interaction Design, or a related field.
• Have 3–5 years of practical UI/UX design experience, with a portfolio showcasing comprehensive user-centered design solutions.
• Demonstrate expert proficiency in Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD (including prototyping and developer hand-off).
• Exhibit solid experience in conducting and implementing results from user research and usability testing.
• Understand Section 508 and WCAG accessibility standards, with a track record of implementing accessible designs.
• Display the ability to work effectively within Agile/Scrum environments, collaborating seamlessly with developers on execution.
• Showcase strong visual design skills encompassing typography, color theory, layout, and information hierarchy.
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the capacity to articulate complex ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
