β’ Collaborate with art and engineering teams to comprehend visual requirements and performance limitations.
β’ Develop, enhance, and upkeep advanced materials and shaders utilizing Unreal Engine.
β’ Design reusable material functions and dynamic systems to cater to various surface types like environment, characters, and VFX.
β’ Explore and experiment with new shading techniques to enhance visual quality and efficiency.
β’ Work closely with rendering engineers to spot and resolve performance bottlenecks associated with materials.
β’ Assist in defining and managing material pipelines and documentation for the art team.
β’ Minimum of 3 years experience in a Technical Art or Material/Shader Art role.
β’ Prior involvement in the development of at least one title on the current or previous console generation (gen8, gen9), ideally AAA.
β’ Profound understanding of Unreal Engineβs material system including Material Editor, Material Functions, and Material Instances.
β’ Thorough comprehension of PBR workflows, surface response, and lighting fundamentals.
β’ Demonstrated experience in crafting and optimizing complex shaders for real-time performance.
β’ Proficiency in Substance Designer/Painter, Photoshop, or similar texturing tools.
β’ Familiarity with scripting or shader languages (HLSL, GLSL, Python) is a plus.
β’ Ability to balance visual quality with technical constraints.
β’ Strong communication skills and collaborative aptitude across various disciplines.
β’ Excellent time management and adept problem-solving abilities.
β’ Capability to work independently with a high level of autonomy.
