• Evaluate real-time VFX assets from external vendors including environmental effects, combat FX, character abilities, particle systems, shaders, and cinematic VFX for visual quality, timing, performance, and technical accuracy.
• Offer detailed and actionable feedback to vendors to ensure compliance with project style guides, gameplay readability requirements, and technical specifications.
• Incorporate approved VFX into the game engine, ensuring proper configuration, performance enhancement, and compatibility with gameplay or cinematic needs.
• Work closely with internal VFX leads, technical artists, designers, and production teams to streamline pipeline efficiency.
• Identify and resolve visual, technical, or performance issues in VFX assets.
• Maintain documentation and promote best practices for VFX production, optimization, and review processes.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in VFX reviewing, in-engine VFX artistry, or outsourcing management.
• At least one released title on console, PC, or equivalent platform.
• Strong grasp of VFX fundamentals such as timing, motion, impact, gameplay visibility, stylization, and environmental narrative.
• Proficiency in Unreal Engine or similar real-time engines (particle systems, Niagara, shader development, etc.).
• Proficient in industry-standard tools like Houdini, Maya/Blender, Substance tools, Photoshop, and real-time VFX production workflows.
• Exceptional communication and feedback delivery abilities.
• Keen eye for detail and the capacity to maintain consistency across various visual effects styles and settings.
• Previous experience managing or evaluating outsourced VFX teams.
• Familiarity with procedural workflows, particle systems, and real-time optimization methods.
• Familiarity with version control tools like Perforce or Git.
• Understanding of performance budgets, shader complexity, and memory constraints in large-scale or FX-intensive environments.
