• Collaborate with art and engineering teams to comprehend visual requirements and performance limitations.
• Develop, enhance, and upkeep advanced materials and shaders utilizing Unreal Engine.
• Design reusable material functions and dynamic systems to cater to various surface types like environment, characters, and VFX.
• Explore and experiment with new shading techniques to enhance visual quality and efficiency.
• Work closely with rendering engineers to spot and resolve performance bottlenecks associated with materials.
• Assist in defining and managing material pipelines and documentation for the art team.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in a Technical Art or Material/Shader Art role.
• Prior involvement in the development of at least one title on the current or previous console generation (gen8, gen9), ideally AAA.
• Profound understanding of Unreal Engine’s material system including Material Editor, Material Functions, and Material Instances.
• Thorough comprehension of PBR workflows, surface response, and lighting fundamentals.
• Demonstrated experience in crafting and optimizing complex shaders for real-time performance.
• Proficiency in Substance Designer/Painter, Photoshop, or similar texturing tools.
• Familiarity with scripting or shader languages (HLSL, GLSL, Python) is a plus.
• Ability to balance visual quality with technical constraints.
• Strong communication skills and collaborative aptitude across various disciplines.
• Excellent time management and adept problem-solving abilities.
